Piano Faculty

Sepehr Davallou is a musician, pianist, vocal coach and opera repetiteur based in the Boston area. He has served as an assistant music director for the production of Gluck’s Orfeo at NEMPAC, and worked as a pianist on such productions as Britten’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream” at Miami Music Festival, “Die Fledermaus” at the New England Conservatory and “Die Zauberflöte” at NEC and also Maryland Opera Studio.

 

Extremely passionate about text, poetry, artsong and cross-cultural music making, he has appeared on five Liederabend series at NEC spanning diverse repertoire from Mozart, to Wolf and Poulenc and to folk and contemporary music.

 

He has taught piano, harmony, and solfege at several music schools and institutions throughout his studies and currently serves as a piano faculty member at the Brookline Music School, teaching a very diverse group of students in different age groups and levels. he has also served as a teaching assistant at the New England Conservatory, teaching non-major piano lessons to students. Sepehr strongly believes in the immense capacity of everyone to learn music, and the empowerment of individuals through music education.

 

Sepehr has extensive experience with choral accompanying as well. He is now a staff pianist at Boston City Singers, and has been a pianist of Maryland’s Men’s chorus, Maryland Opera chorus and University of Tehran’s chorus. He has attended the prestigious music festival Aspen Music Festival and School and has participated in “Dandelion Opera Institute” and “Collaborative Pianist Institute” where he got to work with renowned artists of the field such as Martin Katz, Kathy Kelly and Warren Jones.

 

Sepehr has a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Tehran, a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano from University of Maryland and a Graduate Diploma in Opera Coaching from the New England Conservatory. His mentors and teachers are Cameron Stowe, JJ Penna, Tanya Blaich and Rita Sloan. Outside his life as a musician, he is an introverted coffee lover, reader and loves to hike and camp and be outdoors.
