2026 Friendship Concerts: Duos, Trios, and Beyond
This spring, EKS Music School is delighted to present our Friendship Concerts, a new performance initiative inspired by the success of last year’s Ensemble Festival. This event encourages students to collaborate in small chamber groups, make music with friends and family, and experience the joy of shared music-making in a supportive concert setting.
Key Dates
Concert Day:
Saturday, April 11, 2026 | 1:00–5:00 p.m.

- Concert 1: 1:15–2:45 p.m.

- Concert 2: 3:30–5:00 p.m.
Dress Rehearsal (Mandatory):
Friday, April 10, 2026 | 4:00–8:00 p.m.
Specific rehearsal schedules will be announced closer to the date.
Who Can Participate

- Open to all EKS students and their immediate family members (siblings, parents, grandparents) free of charge.

- Friends or relatives outside EKS may participate for a $25 participation fee per person.

- To maintain a strong EKS community focus, no more than 50% of any group may be non-EKS participants.
Group Formation

- Students are encouraged to form their own chamber groups of 2 to 5 members.

- Faculty may also assist with or assign groups as needed.

- Each group will have a Group Leader, who must be an EKS student and will be appointed by the coaching instructor.

- Each student may participate in and perform with up to three groups maximum.
Group Leader Responsibilities
With parent support as needed, the Group Leader will:

- Communicate with their teacher regarding repertoire selection.

- Ensure all group members receive and have access to their music.

- Coordinate with instructors to schedule coaching sessions during regular EKS lesson times.
Coachings

- Groups may request 1–2 coaching sessions, depending on ensemble size.

- All group members must attend coaching sessions together.

- Coachings will take place during students’ regular lesson times by group agreement.
Timeline

- January 19, 2026: Registration opens

- February 7, 2026: Registration deadline; groups formed and preliminary repertoire discussed

- By February 14, 2026: Families notified of repertoire selected by faculty/coaches

- By February 28, 2026: Groups schedule at least one independent rehearsal

- Late March – Early April: Coachings take place (by request)

- April 10, 2026: Mandatory dress rehearsal

- April 11, 2026: Friendship Concerts
