We were thrilled to host a wonderful Voice Masterclass with soprano Erin Matthews at the Braintree Public Library, sponsored by EKS Music School. The afternoon was filled with focused listening, thoughtful feedback, and inspiring music-making, creating a meaningful learning experience for both performers and audience members. Events like this truly reflect the heart of our mission: building confident, expressive musicians through performance opportunities and mentorship.
Our students Anya Healy, Chris Romeo, Valerie Mui, and Elowen Cassidy, all from Ms. Jen’s voice studio, did an outstanding job. Each singer came prepared and performed with poise, musicality, and courage. Erin Matthews offered clear, practical guidance on vocal technique, diction, breath support, and musical interpretation, helping students refine their sound while encouraging them to trust their instincts as performers. It was especially rewarding to see how quickly the students applied her suggestions and grew within just one coaching session.
Beyond the technical insights, the masterclass emphasized the importance of storytelling, communication, and connection—essential elements of great singing. The supportive and engaging atmosphere allowed students to learn not only from their own coaching, but also from listening to their peers. We are incredibly proud of our singers for representing EKS Music School so beautifully and grateful to Erin Matthews for sharing her expertise and artistry with our community. It was an enriching afternoon that reminded us how powerful live learning and collaboration can be.
