Last Saturday, EKS Music School was thrilled to welcome classical guitarist Dr. Ben Lougheed for an inspiring masterclass, concluding our 2024–2025 Masterclass Series on a high note. The event brought together students, faculty, and families for an afternoon of learning, music-making, and artistic growth.
Six of our talented guitar students — Evan, Shaanver, Kien, Eden, Mark, and Jackson — took the stage to perform and receive individualized feedback from Dr. Lougheed. With his engaging teaching style, live demonstrations, and thoughtful insights, students gained valuable tools to elevate their playing and deepen their musical expression.
Dr. Lougheed made the session even more interactive by passing out cards inviting students to write down questions throughout the class, creating a welcoming and thoughtful atmosphere for learning. As a special surprise, he also gave away one of his CDs to a lucky participant — a wonderful memento from an inspiring day!
From tone production and technique to musical storytelling, Dr. Lougheed guided students through practical and artistic refinements that left a lasting impression on all who attended. The supportive and focused atmosphere made for an unforgettable experience.
Special thanks to our dedicated faculty, Fred Springer and Robby Brown, for preparing the students and supporting them every step of the way.
This marks the fourth and final masterclass of the season — a series filled with inspiration, growth, and community. Thank you to all who participated, supported, and made it possible. We look forward to another exciting season next year. See you in 2026!
