MAKEUP POLICY
It is the responsibility of each student to be punctual to his or her lessons. Since faculty members reserve a weekly teaching slot for each student, they are not required to make up lessons missed due to student absence.
Due to limited front desk hours, to cancel a lesson, please send an email to info@eksmusicschool.com and notify the school.
One lesson per semester may be made up if the teacher or the school receives notice at least 6 hours ahead of time and if a time should become available during the teacher’s regular teaching hours. The lesson will be conducted in person or virtually depending upon the availability of the teacher and studio space . If your lesson is canceled due to teacher absence, we will either assign a substitute teacher or your teacher will arrange a makeup lesson with you during school hours. Your lesson format that you originally signed up for (in person or online) will be honored in the case of teacher absence.
EKS Music School reserves the right to assign substitute teachers for make-up lessons under certain circumstances.
There will be no makeup lessons for any group classes (including semi-private lessons) due to student absence.
If a student is required to stay at home due to illness and/or showing any COVID symptoms, a Zoom lesson will be conducted at the scheduled lesson time instead. Another alternate option for makeup lessons will be to sign up for the monthly studio performance class, which is free and open to all students on a first come, first served basis. (See below for more information).
All makeup lesson credits have to be claimed by the last day of spring semester. There are no makeup lessons for summer lesson absence.
Effective September 1, 2022, makeup lessons due to student illness (with notice, please refer to above policy) and inclement weather will be conducted virtually over Zoom. Due to the instructor's and studio space availability, we no longer offer in-person makeup lessons.
ABSENCE DUE TO ILLNESS
Students who are ill or may have been exposed to disease should stay home and rest. By coming to lessons in such conditions, not only will it increase your chance of being exposed to more viral threats in public areas, it will also present health risks to fellow students, families and staff at EKS. We reserve the right to cancel lessons and ask the student to go home if he or she comes in sick. Please also refer to the above policy for cancellation and makeup lessons.
INCLEMENT WEATHER CANCELLATIONS
EKS School is following the Quincy Public School calendar and decisions in terms of school closure due to weather related circumstances. Students and parents should check their email in case bad weather conditions result in the closing of the studio. Announcements will be sent out by noon via email, the EKS Facebook page and on the studio website.
Lessons canceled due to inclement weather will be conducted in zoom-format only.
WITHDRAWAL, REFUND AND CREDITS

STUDIO PERFORMANCE CLASS
The school runs a monthly Studio Performance Class. Students receive opportunities to practice their performance skills, etiquettes, build confidence and receive comment and feedback for improvement from faculty members who might be different from their regular private instructor. The classes are open to all EKS students at NO additional fee.
Classes are signup events that are on a first come, first served basis. Students are encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities especially if students missed their regular lessons due to various reasons.
Please check the school calendar for Studio Performance Class Dates and signup instructions.
REFERRAL CREDITS
Existing families (with at least one private lesson enrollment for one completed semester or group lesson for one completed session) will receive a $20 tuition credit if the new student signs up for a private class or $10 tuition credit if the new student signs up for a group class.
Credit will be issued to the referral family after the new student completes a full semester of private lessons (a minimum of 17 weeks of lessons) or one session of group class.
There is no limit on the number of new students an existing family can refer.
However, the referral family will only receive one tuition credit for referring each new student no matter how many classes the new student/students signs up for.
