Shaofan (Sophia) Pan is a dedicated pianist known for her exceptional talent in piano performance and her passion for nurturing young musicians. She embarked on her musical journey at a young age, and her dedication to the art of piano has led her to numerous achievements like the 1st prize in the Seoul Cup Music Competition and the 3rd prize in the Joseph Haydn International Piano Competition in Vienna.
Shaofan earned her Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance at Boston University under the tutelage of Russian Pianist Pavel Nersessian. She thrived as a Group Piano Lesson Teaching Assistant during her time at BU, sharing her knowledge and passion with fellow students, and was honored to join Pi Kappa Lambda.
With over eight years of teaching experience, Shaofan has become a sought-after educator. Her students have achieved prizes in competitions and successfully passed ABRSM and RCM exams. Her teaching approach is marked by patience, humor, and an encouraging environment that fosters a love for music in her students. To help students make progress, Shaofan incorporates piano techniques, theory and music appreciation into her lessons. She cares for each student’s need and personalizes the learning curriculums.
Beyond her solo piano performances, Shaofan is a versatile musician who collaborates as a piano accompanist for instrumentalists and vocalists. She also holds an ABRSM Diploma and a high school music teacher certificate, the testaments to her musical proficiency.
